The ways in which we perceive, desire and experience food are complex. Food can be pleasurable and sensual, but also excessive, disturbing or repulsive. In a culture shaped by consumerism, visual overload and constant exposure, our desires are both encouraged and concealed.
Talk Dirty to Me explores the relationship between appetite, sexuality, celebration and shame. The photographs transform familiar foods and organic matter into elaborate, fetishised objects. Pleasure becomes theatrical, while beauty is pushed towards excess and discomfort.
Through staged compositions, decorative surfaces and bodily associations, I examine the tension between attraction and disgust, intimacy and display. The series reflects on a culture in which bodies, desires and consumption are continuously exposed, judged and idealised.
We are surrounded by images that invite us to desire, yet we remain ashamed of what we want.
