Nightmares explores the moment when fulfilment ceases to offer reassurance and begins to reveal its darker consequences. Within a constructed nocturnal landscape, fragments of nature, animal remains and familiar objects form an artificial ecosystem suspended between attraction and decay.
The scenes appear lush and seductive, yet life within them has become disturbed, displaced or transformed into decoration. What initially resembles a private paradise gradually reveals itself as a closed environment governed by possession, consumption and death.
The project considers the unstable boundary between desire and fear. A dream may promise escape from reality, but once made tangible, it can become another form of confinement.
All works from this series are available as limited-edition archival pigment prints (edition of 3), in two sizes: 60 × 40 cm and 100 × 65 cm. For enquiries: info@tomekalbin.com
